My husband and I have spent years sailing on boats around the islands of Moreton Bay off Brisbane where there are many Turtles. We have had turtles just popping up and swimming along as we sail by; we have had turtles who pop up right beside us when we are at anchor. They usually take one look then dive only to resurface again for another look a few moments later. Turtles are vulnerable because they are often hit by boats or they swallow plastic bags mistaking them for jellyfish which are part of their diet.
It was fun using a new water stencil with modelling paste to create the water surface highlights above the Turtle in this artwork. Texture has also been applied to the Turtles body using a spoon.

Original Artwork Creation Process
Many hours go into creating an original painting.
- The canvas is stretched
- Canvas is primed
- Design is created from photos which have been taken.
- Plan is developed so that there is a logical step by step from background painting to finished painting.
- Design is sketched onto the canvas before painting and the application of texture paste using stencils and/or palette knives is performed.
- Many layers of painting plus a final coat protective varnish are all done with love and care.

Original painting will be packaged within 2 to 3 business days. Once your parcel is with Australia Post please allow 3 - 6 business days for standard shipping (1 - 2 days for express) to all major Australian cities (slightly longer for rural areas). Total time from order placement to delivery to your door will be up to 14 business days.
